As a spiritual counselor of sort, I try and be very careful not to allow anyone to put me up on a pedestal. I love the work I do and am grateful for my gifts, but my gifts are no better than yours, we are all uniquely gifted for each other. I always want to empower people to find themselves, not give themselves to me. But giving away your power can be a very easy thing to do, especially when relating back to spirituality. Now I don't want to say that anyone's religions are wrong, please don't take this post that way. But I honestly believe, no matter what religion you belong to, you are meant to have your own power, within you, to use for everyone's highest good. That doesn't discredit the higher power of all of us, but as individual's our first responsibility is to ourselves. (think how great we would all be if we all just took care of ourselves) I am talking about humans here in this post. What humans are you giving your power away to?
This means, if you are giving your power away to some teacher, guru, manager, mentor, etc. because you think they know more than you, have more experience, are better than you in anyway, you are doing both of you a disservice. There is so much to be learned from each other. Experience isn't everything. It is all about perspective, personality, and trust in our own divine guidance system. Those of you who are parents and open to your children's wisdom, can see even the least experienced humans have a lot to teach us.
Insightful Inspiration for the Week
This week, notice, who are you putting on a pedestal? What do you think they know more about? Do you think they have it all covered? Do you think they live a "better" life than you do or have more of it figured out? Well, it is time to take notice and realize we are all searching for answers. We are all seeking within ourselves and outside ourselves to find answers. What answers we do have, only lead to more questions.
So rather than separating yourself from your teacher, mentor, guru, etc. by putting them on a pedestal. Embrace them as the teacher they are and nothing more. Allow them to teach you what they know, but not at the expense of what you already have found to be true to yourself. Allow them to guide you and love you through your process, but know that you are always capable to do it yourself if you so choose and might even have something to offer back.
This week... put yourself on a pedestal and see how it feels. People want to learn from you too.
