Two sides to every story

Being a mother of two square pegs that down right refuse to be put into round holes, I have had my fair share of struggles with the school system. As a mom it has required me to stay grounded in my truth. As a healer, it has tested my limits of compassion and understanding.

Perspectives

Our perspective in the world is very personal. Our filters of how we view a situation involves a complex brew of our past, our beliefs, our programs and our position in the situation.

Where we sometimes get hung up is when we need to convince others to see our side as the only truth. But one person's experience does not have to invalidate your own. Each experience is its own and it isn't a requirement that the whole world have the same experiences as us to have our experience be true.

Two Sides To Every Story

Taking this a step further, in order to heal ourselves sometimes it is helpful to see truth in the other side of the story. You probably won't be able to see the other person's truth 100% because you are still using your filter, however, a compassionate view into the other side can offer a healing to you as well.

In my case, I might being inquiring into myself about what a teacher's story could possibly be. I do this while at the same time, hold space for my truth as well.

I can have compassion for the teacher who has a full class, with several children who have special needs, one of which loves to debate every rule and issue with a passive aggressive behavior that he has down to a science (that's mine.) Learning not to take that teacher's perspective personally is also a huge gift.

Looking at the other side of the story while holding space for our truth with compassion. Our side being that our child is very intelligent and has a very unique and useful personality. If he is guided in the right direction his talents for bucking status quo can take us all to a new level.

Victim Energy

When you are doing this two sided work you are likely hanging onto the other side's perspective as a personal attack of some sort. You might even feel that there was a violation against you, at no fault of your own. Hanging on to these things isn't going to help you feel lighter, more connected and ready for the next thing. It will leave you feeling gun shy, bitter and resentful.

Release the victim before you inquire into the other side. Watch out for your need to defend your view point and make the other person wrong as you look.

Reflection questions:

  • What is happening here really?
  • Why do you care what this person has done?
  • What does it matter?
  • Is it over and done with? If so, can you move on and forgive and forget? Why not?
  • What parts of you feel wounded?
  • What feelings do you feel? Do you feel hurt? Angry? Betrayed?

In my situation my mothering is questioned when my children won't fit into the expectations of the school. That hits me to the core and I want to prove is wrong, no matter what. But here is the catch, I don't have to prove it wrong!

I am a wonderful mother to my children. I know this and do my best with them every day.  But I had to heal this part of myself, realizing that some part of me must have wondered if she was right. Otherwise, why would I care?

The other thing that pokes me to the core is a perception that teachers believe that my children are "bad" in some way. Again, I want to prove that wrong. This is more about me wanting to see the world accept my unique child without question. I so badly want the world to accept me too. Again, perfect place to work on healing myself.  By looking at this I can allowing both my children and I to accept ourselves as we are, rather than trying to convince the world to accept us. Teaching them to love themselves first, then listen to the input of others.

Your turn

Take a step back from your head on a situation your are struggling with. Use this moment in your life as ways to heal yourself and look into things further, rather than injure yourself through painful lenses of hurt and victimization.

Love yourself for bringing these scenarios into your life to teach you what you want to learn as a spirit. Embrace them, rather than be victimized by them. Use both sides of the story to bring you clarity and safety to explore the truths that are trying to shine through.

Sending unconditional love and light your way this week.

Thanks to the Rock Bottom

We have all heard the down and out stories of how people hit rock bottom and that was the catalyst for the rising up. We have heard those stories of triumph over the impossible negativity we see in the world. We are overcoming little "rock bottoms" all of the time. It is our success over our struggles that gives us the trust in ourselves to take risks and carry on. It is the success in our moments of weakness, that remind us of our strength.

Ego, Ego On the Wall, who's the fairest of them all?

If you are a follower of metaphysical matters, you will often hear about the ego. Most of the time the ego is considered something to let go of, not something through which to live your life.

I think that's impossible for most of us. It isn't the point for us yet. I read a book called "The Rascal's Guide to Enlightenment" by Mat-Zo the unleavened one. You can tell by the title and author's name that it's a funny one. In his book he includes an "I Love my Ego Rebuild Kit." To paraphrase, it says something along the lines of "if you have ruined your ego through too much enlightenment work, use this rebuilding kit to fix it up." It's a pretty funny book. I recommend it to everyone.

Everything is about balance. As I watch children grow, I see their egos forming. It's part of development. Without it, they would miss an important part of their life lessons, like learning how to be compared to others and still feel good about themselves from the inside. Finding out that we are all different and coming to terms with what that means.

However, as we mature and understand ourselves more deeply, we can soften our ego's role into a more helpful tool. We don't want to run the world with our egos out of whack because then we forget that we aren't the center of the universe and right about everything. But without enough ego, we may lose ourselves in that idea that everything is an illusion except spirit, which may also not be the best approach to living your life.

I don't think it's about blowing the ego away. But it is about using our consciousness to bring everything into balance through understanding our relationship with ego and spirit. With intention, the ego can work with the spirit to enhance your sense of authenticity. Below is a video from Teal Swan on her thoughts about ego vs. intuition. Watch more about authenticity here.

The Mind

The ego helps us discern between "us" and "them." It works with you to find joy in the separate existence that we are all living.

The spirit uses the mind to understand itself more deeply. Knowing how to witness the ego self gives depth and expansion to the spirit.

Every human being has had some experience of guidance. That is not our challenge. Our challenge is: Will our ego humble enough to acknowledge that there is more than the ego running the world and the experience of the human journey through life?
— Sonia Choquette

The Body

The ego helps set boundaries about how you want to be treated, emotionally and physically. What feels good to you is not the same for everyone. It helps formulate experiences that are specifically enjoyed by the separate self.

The spirit helps setup how you experience yourself in the world. It frames your perceptions, what you expect and how your respond to your physical world. The physical body provides a vessel of knowing the spirit through experience and expression.

The Spirit

The ego’s connection to the concept of spirit has rules of morality, organization and formulations about to understand the difference between right and wrong. It helps feeling supported in the separate self as "good."

The spirit has expansiveness and the understanding that it's bigger than just the immediate moment. It is bigger than the experience of right now, but holds in it the whole truth of self that allows the ego to create yet more experiences.

Balancing Visualization

I offer you a visualization to release the story of the mind, which helps the ego to soften and allows the balance of ego and spirit to take place.  Click here to access the mp3 file on Google Drive.

Manifesting what you are Worth

As I watch the ways of the world and the underlying motives of the humans around me, I notice that most of our bad decisions come from a lack of self worth. It keeps us hiding in ourselves and shaming and shunning ourselves into further disconnect from those around us.

We can look at the big stuff such as having affairs, lying, making others feel bad, etc. but there are so many little things too. The thing that continues to surprise me is that we often make decisions to do things because we are insecure about aspects of ourselves that no one else even cares about. People around you might even laugh if they knew your "secret" dark side.

How can you manifest what you are worth if you don't know what you are worth and you aren't facing what is blocking you from that knowledge. Self worth is a great place to start in figuring out how you are blocked to manifesting what you want.

FacE Yourself

The key here is, if we could just face that we feel bad about ourselves and are insecure, rather than constantly running from that feeling through ego boosting activities, we would probably stop creating reasons to feel bad about ourselves. It is the belief that we are no good that perpetuates those actions to lead us to make that judgment to begin with. The chicken and the egg is no debate on this one. We don't make bad decisions because we are bad people; we make bad decisions because we are too afraid to face our fears that we are bad people.

Lets take the playground as an example. A young boy who feels good about himself invites children to play with him. Allowing the other people to also feel successful in their pursuits and encourages the joy of success in others. The boy who is worried about his own worth will often compete or show off talents they think would make others feel inferior too. We have trained ourselves to think the later is “normal.” As normal as it may seem, it is an energetic indicator that this person doesn’t know their worth.

Another example is the corporate ladder. Leaders who feel secure in themselves climb easily and bring others with them. Leaders who feel more nervous or like imposters in their positions often ride on others coat tails and make sure those around them know they are superior. Again, just because the later is more common, doesn’t mean it is the optimized way to be.

Love Yourself

If we boost our trust in ourselves, love for ourselves and believe that we are inherently good; we start to make decisions from a more authentic place. Not that controlling, manipulative place that tries to make us look good, but the place that is naturally already good. If we trust it to be there and stop wondering if it is there, we stop second-guessing, stop making choices out of how we appear. We start to do things that boost our self worth, thus perpetuating the cycle of building self worth rather than breaking it down.

There are tons of tools out there these days. Here are a few that I suggest to enhance your self love space.

There are tons of resources out there. Google it and see what resonates with you. Then make it a habit to love yourself more.

If you are an angel person, here is a video from Doreen Virtue.

Be yourself

Stop trying to pretend you think highly of yourself and actually do think highly of yourself. Don't worry about what other people think of you, rather concern yourself with what you think of you. If you aren't thinking highly of yourself, your best bet to having a better life starts there.

How? The first step is to start correcting your own inner dialogue. Catch yourself when you make disparaging comments about yourself (which you probably say out loud too) and correct it to a statement that affirms what you want to be. For example, change "I can't believe I did that, I am so spacey!" to "Wow, I just did that to remind myself to pay more attention. I will gladly take that challenge."  By taking on the challenge, you are offering yourself growth and depth in understanding of yourself.

Facebook me if you want me to break this topic down more. It is truly a great place to start the healing process. (or of course comment here)

How to feel worthy, even when rejected

Unemployment, divorce or any other life crisis where you feel rejected can be devastating to the manifesting space. If you let it, these kinds of experiences can leave you feeling victimized, wounded and unworthy to have the world work in your favor.

There are periods when we can also get convinced people only like us for what we can give them, not because they authentically like us. We get angry because we feel used and alone in our most vulnerable times of need.

But this doesn't have to be a blow to the manifester inside and in fact can actually strengthen your abilities to create an authentic life.

False foundations

Sometimes we establish relationships with people based on something we give them and when we test the relationship by taking that thing away, we are shocked to find the relationship falls apart. For example, new jobs. You go into the interview, probably promising your devotion, hard work and endless talent. You get the job and then kill yourself for months working hard to prove yourself. Then the steam starts to run out and you realize what you did was over-promise and the level of work you could sustain long term does not match up with the expectations you have set..

You overextended your energy to prove yourself instead of standing in your authentic value and making that work for you. Then your work quantity tarts to go down, and although it might be more reasonable, it isn't what you promised originally and your employer is feeling annoyed. You feel like "what the heck, I have been killing myself for this person."

Yeah... and that is what they began to expect! You could apply this to your friendships, your relationships, anything. Did you promise something you couldn't sustain? Why didn't you just promise what you could authentically do in the first place and accept that that is enough? You would have been better off to be rejected in the first place, rather than burn out your energy trying to be somewhere you don't fit.

Counting on others

Another scenario is that sometimes we are meant to be alone to work through some things. Although right now, all we want in the world is someone to hold us and tell us it will be okay, that person isn't there for a reason. You are meant to deal with things alone so you face them and work through them in your own energy. Other people will put "fix it" energy in our space in a time we need to just be with something and so sometimes we need space, even if we don't want it.

It is in the realization of your own strength and understanding of yourself that you find your life to be sustainable. When you are able to show up in ease and grace and have the world around your support that, then you are moving into authentic manifestation.

No victims, only volunteers

Each scenario is not a punishment to victimize you (yet again). It is there to teach you about your authentic, powerful self and highlight the beliefs and situations that you give your power to that are no longer serving you. These situations show up to help you stand tall in your own space, no matter what. You can use this rejected energy to curl up in a ball and feel sorry for yourself, or you can put that energy into healing your fears and self worth issues that have brought you here in the first place. Once you do that you can go to new places in the future and not replay old patterns.

Manifesting in your truth

Embrace every moment as a teaching, healing moment. Where do you feel rejected? What is coming up in this rejection? Do you feel alone? Abused? Used? Under valued? Why is this a bad feeling for you? Is this true? Are you really being abused, used, under valued?

If you are, why are you allowing that to happen? How is that serving you? Are you getting false acceptance from this behavior? Maybe you would like to change it but don't know how. It's okay, just notice it for now and remember that you want to do something different. Keep that awareness and see how things shift. If you aren't feeling abused, etc. then why are you letting yourself get worked up about it? Is it keeping you from looking at the real issue for yourself?

Allow every moment, no matter how hard, to be a moment of reflection for yourself. Rather than resist it and try to get out of it, embrace it. Let it teach you. You are already suffering, why not get some value out of it? Why waste a good opportunity to learn?

Happy healing.

Energy Addictions and the Stories We Tell Ourselves

We are natural storytellers. We love to pass on information through stories. The story tellers of indigenous tribes are generally held in very high esteem. We read books, watch movies and have conversations revolving around telling stories.

Some of these things are true and some of them lies. But they are all good stories.
— Hilary Mantel

There is a risk with passing on stories, and that is misinformation. We tend to pass on stories no matter what their validity. If it feels real to us, it is real. This is why we have websites like Snopes, so we can check out facts or find out we have been duped. This Slate article speaks of a mythical story of panic, reportedly caused by Orsen Welles' fake broadcast on a Martian invasion. This article emphasizes to the fact that we can can pass on untrue stories for a very long time.

The Stories We Tell Ourselves

How does this play out with subtle energies? Well, not only do we tell our stories to others, but the stories we tell ourselves are the ones we can get most duped by. First, because  we generally don't share our full stories to others we don't get called out on how false they are. Second, because the voice we hear loudest is our own. Whatever the story is we tell ourselves, is the story we believe, defend and create in our lives.

For me, the story of how much time I have versus how much time I think I need is never in balance. It isn't an uncommon story. I share this story with many others around me, which makes it worse. We all perpetuate the time struggle.

When a story becomes an addition

Oh how we love to spin.

Oh how we love to spin.

As I become more stressed, I start to spin my story deeper and deeper. Anyone who tries to convince me that my story is unreasonable is likely to get a defensive response and I weave the further the story in order to convince the other person that my stress is valid. This does me no good on an energy level, but I am hooked and I do it anyway. It is like a drug and I lose my power to it.

As I have worked with people over the years, I have seen clear energetic addictions in most people's lives, some are healthy, others are not. Most of it has to do with how you learned to be in the world. What your parents, teachers and peers showed you your life was like.

The Cure

As much as you can blame your parents or society for your imbalances it is ultimately your awareness and intention to change that bringing you into balance again. For whatever reason, your soul wanted to learn that lesson by being in it and then bring yourself out of it. So now is the time to change the story. Start finding new ways to tell yourself how to get things done or engage with your friends.

Some other examples of negative energetic addictions include drama, anger, sadness, hopelessness, victimization and "work." You may even use these states of being to motivate you. Motivate you to go to work, make a change or just get out of bed in the morning. Paying attention is always the key to these things.

Take a moment to notice your energy addictions. Where do you spend a lot of your time? In a state of peace, stress, anger, etc.? Is it possible that you are addicted to this frequent state of being? Take a minute to make a pact with yourself to notice that this energy is a choice. Do you want to choose differently today? Give it a try. Tell yourself you want a new story.

You can also ask some follow-up questions, for example, is this a mental addiction or an emotional one? Where do I store this story in my body? Can I get the same results with a more positive spin on this story? I would love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to share.

Service as a path to peace

"I am endeavoring to see God through service to humanity, for I know that God is neither in heaven, nor down below, but in everyone." - Gandhi

If you know me, you know I find myself getting mixed up in all kinds of "act of service". Most of which I feel is useful to the world and gives back to me as I give. However, there are some acts of service I find myself doing out of obligation or out of fear that if I don't do it no one will and it must be done.

When I look at the energetic imprint of both types of service I clearly can see that the times when I do things out of authentic desire to be of service is the times that both the receiver of my service and myself truly get the gift I am intending to give. However, on the flip side, when I act in service out of obligation I am blocking both myself and the receiver from everything but the feeling of obligation.

Where you give from within yourself matters. Who you are as the giver at the time of giving matters to the receiver. You will only be successful in giving of yourself and your time when you can do it from the space of service for the sake of giving. When you are able to access this space of clear giving you are able to feel and see the benefits of your actions. It helps instill a sense of purpose in life, a sense of connection, and a sense of hope.

For example, as a CASA I am only good at volunteering, when I show up without any expectations of outcomes. I am only able to enjoy the work, when I show up to see humanity in everyone, including the mistakes most of humanity would consider hard to see and hard to accept. I am only able to  be the change agent in my role when all I ask of myself is to be of service to humanity, then I can truly see the human behind acts that seem unforgivable. Then I am able to forgive what I am seeing and accept the humanity in it instead. It keeps me from being injured by what I am witnessing and allows me to be present in the service.

Then I can be at peace with the things I see in the world and find a sense of purpose at the same time.

Insightful Inspiration

Next time you do something out of service for someone else, or the greater good, check in with yourself about why you are doing it, what you expect from it, and what judgement you have about it. See if you can release yourself from all of the motives, expectations and judgement and still do the act of service. If you can't then find something else you can do instead.

Stay on the Train of Intention

pirates

I love my job! The conversations I have with the unseen helpers in our lives, always excites me. I am motivated by inspirations, intentions to help and the improvements I see in others. I am not motivated by the concept of more, torturing myself to perform unattainable goals, but ushering myself into doing even more of what I love. How are you motivating yourself to get to your next level? How are you monitoring your progress on that goal? Here is a fun way to think of setting intentions that doesn't require struggle and stress.

Think of your desire for an outcome to be like that purchase of a train ticket to that outcome. For example, you want to find a job. You buy this ticket and get on the train of that intention. You trust that as you sit down on this train you are getting to your desired outcome. This doesn't mean you do nothing while on this train. But what it does mean is you have to stay on the train. Don't look out the window to see if you are on the right track, look out the window knowing you are and you are enjoying the journey. Don't stop the train and try to go somewhere else midway because you aren't sure you will get there, keep steady on your intention.  Know that you are on the right track if you are remaining loving, positive and in alignment with yourself and your intentions.

You might want to respond "Well when you buy a train ticket you know where you are going and that you will for sure get there. How do I know I will get there? Every time I look for a sign that I am getting there, I don't see it."

Here is the response, "You can't buy a train ticket from California to Kansas and expect to see Kansas every time you look out the window at the track. The landscape changes frequently as you travel to your intended destination."

We put out our intentions for things to happen, not realizing several landscape changes have to happen first to let that change take place. We get fearful as the changes happen, we doubt, we fret and we get impatient. All of this gets in the way of us allowing things to happen and flow in as we have requested.

Insightful Inspiration

What track of intention are you on? Are you watching the landscape change and allowing it to morph into the intention you have already set or are you trying to control it by trying to see too far ahead? If you have set an intentional destination for yourself get on that train and trust it will take you there. Let yourself notice your own barriers to your travels and gently maneuver around them allowing your life to make room for this intention you have set. A little patience might help here too. :)

I just want to be okay

I was listening to Pandora today and a song by Ingrid Michaelson, came up. The basic lyrics are “I just want to be okay”. It got me thinking about why people seek out my services. The is the fundamental reason. They want to know they are going to be okay. So I began to contemplate this message further. Digging into myself and by ability to “be okay”. I realized many live in a state of constant doubt. They are wondering if they are making the right decisions, in the right relationships, saying the right things, etc.

Elizabeth Mester taken by Freeman Mester

What if every decision we make, is the right one? Every relationship, divinely intended for our awareness and awakening. This is the truth! If you can embrace your “okayness” you can embrace the fact that everything that comes to you, has reason. It has an intention, set by you on a deeper layer than you may know, to experience.

Experience! That is all that we are here for. We are trying out ways of being, testing limits, learning new things and being more of what we were yesterday. We are using experience to expand ourselves. The more we do it, the more we learn how to harness it. The more we consciously create, the more empowered we feel.

So try it. Rather than stress over “am I okay?” stress over nothing and be in the experience for what it is. The real question then becomes, “how can I embrace the fact that I am okay?”

Bring it on!

My Book Is Here!

I have been so busy that I haven't had time to blog about my news!  I have published a book! Insightful Inspirations, conversation starters with your authentic self. http://bookstore.balboapress.com/Products/SKU-000531426/Insightful-Inspirations.aspx This book is a compilation of blogs, work with others and just general wisdom I have recieved. It is designed to be held in your hand, holding a question in your mind and then open it up to some perspective. I hope to have a card deck that goes with it one day. The artist who did my cover, Stephanie Ingraham with Siyo, will be doing that artwork.

I have to admit that I was pretty nervous to put this book out. Even though I have had it written for over two years, there is just so much exposure with putting this out. I have already found one typo, despite having several proofs and am not sure I like how it printed with the questions on the back of the page. But the gift of this experience is that it is a perfect healing opportunity for my perfection issues! It doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful. That is the amazing gift I will find here, how to just trust and accept my imperfections.

On the flip side, I am even more worried it will do well! :) Fear of success I guess. But part of me worries that I won't have time and won't appreciate the exposure. Again, another amazing opportunity to face my fears and heal. I am catching myself saying "It is just a little book" or "Yeah, no big deal". Wow, who knew I would have such a hard time embracing my accomplishment! I am releasing this issue as well and look forward to whatever this brings.

I have been using the book on my own since I received it and I have to say, I love having it in a format I can hold in my hand. It is so much fun to use! (If I do say so myself.) So I hope you all will take a moment to check it out and find as much value out of it as I do.

Insightful Inspiration

What have you delayed putting out into the world because you are afraid of having it fail? Or maybe you are afraid of it suceeding! What is the worst that can happen? What is the best that can happen? Is it worth the risk?

If you have already faced something like this, share with us. We can all learn from you.

The pull to the truth

What keeps us going? What makes us press on even when we can't possibly find the will to do so? k.d. lang's song Constant Cravings comes to mind. It is about that march onward. Most of us are driven to ask the questions about why and how at least once. This is what I call the pull to the truth. What is the truth? Well there is a whole wikipedia page that will tell you there is never a simple answer to anything. (yet there is) Dictionary.com has five meanings for truth. What a complicated answer I seek. Yet it isn't.

To me we all have a pull to our own truth. A need to identify for ourselves what IS and IS NOT. As children we start off looking at other for the truth, but quickly we begin to notice that there is a difference between our truth and those around us. It may cause us to rebel, act out or conform to a way that isn't our true nature. Where do we find our true nature? How do we know it when we find it?

But the pull to the truth exist in each and every one of us. The desire to see our lives, purpose and existence for what it really is. However, the answer is only inside ourselves because the measure of truth for each of us is different and the only way to see that measure is to look at ourselves.

"Actual existence" is one of the definitions on dictionary.com. What is actual existence? Actual is defined as existing now, existence is the continuance in being. So being now. Ahh, so we come full circle back to the new age movement of being in the NOW! Being in the now = the truth. Interesting. So why are we seeking the truth outside the now? The truth is now, here with us at all times. So it turns out the pull to the truth is a pull to the present moment.

Which brings me to my always consistent message of presence. :)

Be present and you will find the truth you seek.

Sending love

I often make the wonderful mistake of sharing my guides messages with my husband, only to have them thrown back at me constantly for the next month. I actually do love it, but this one was a challenge because it came up often. The guidance for me was that if I am not contributing love to it, I shouldn't put energy into. That meant everything! I thought, I am a loving, accepting, spiritual person... that should be no problem. Holy Cow! It was harder than you think. It wasn't long before I found myself hitting walls with it. The first place it came up was with my kids! The people I love an accept the most. As they began to act out and do their normal kid things, I found myself getting worked up and frustrated. This was not contributing love to the situation. The first time this happened, I sent love to my youngest son (just with my heart and mind, not saying a word) and he began to calm down before my eyes. It would seem that would be enough to anchor the guidance in. But I am human too and these situations arise again and again. Thank goodness for my husband (although maybe not thinking that at the time) as he yells out "send it love!" everytime I begin to slip up.

Here is where I struggled to send love, but did so anyway: when I was being judged, when I felt hurt, when I felt out of control, when I felt victimized in some way, and when I took things personally. So now I know my triggers, I pay attention to why my guides would be so insistent on this guidance. It quickly became clear that when I couldn't send love to something I was feeling separate and disconnected and contibuting to that disconnect for everyone else! Eek. Not something I would ever want to do consciously. It also made me feel drained and weakened my energy system. Again, something I want to avoid.

I am choosing to pay attention to these situations and contribute love as often as I can. I am human and have to give myself permission to my emotions, but I can still send it love while feeling my own emotions. It is kind of like putting oil on something in the oven. It is still going to cook, the oil is just makes it more tender. :)

Insightful Inspiration

I pass this challenge on to you. Send love to absolutely every situation you can this week. Notice when you struggle to do this and see if it gives you information about yourself and where you may be loosing yourself through out the day. These are the situations that drain you of your positive energy. As always, I invite you to share your experiences.

Present moment food

I was outside picking and eating the last of my raspberries for the year. The sweet experience got me thinking about food and weight... (random thoughts by Leanne I know). What I am realizing is the perfection of the fruit and my experience of eating the fruit was very connected. I seek out perfectly ripe raspberries, inspect for any bugs that won't add flavor, and pop it in my mouth an enjoy. The whole thing can be very spiritual if you let it. Connecting with nature, yourself and the moment. Imagine if every time we ate something we had to spend that kind of attention on selecting it before we put it in our math. It would be harder to be overweight, that is for sure. This is what diets are all about, not the kind of food, but just paying ATTENTION to the food. You naturally don't unconsiously overstuff yourself if you have to pay attentionto every calorie and every type of calorie. Granted, most of us find a way to return to the unconsiousness, even when dieting, but my point is, being present with your food, could add a great layer to your experiences.

My youngest son, despite having celiac, LOVES food. He loves the experience of food, he likes trying new things and experiencing food. It is so funny to watch, yet wonderful. He generally gets way more out of his meals than I do!

Insightful Inspiration

Try getting yourself present with your food this week. Spending time seeing it, tasting it, smelling it and just noticing it more. See if you can bring yourself in contact with fresh and vegetables that have short shelf life. Experience the moment of having to choose it and  use it and not just stuff it away to experience it at a later date (hopefully). As always, I would love to hear how it is going. I want to do a better job of this, so I am going to put how it goes for me on my Facebook page. I encourage you to join me!

Why am I surrounded by idiots?

People spend a lot of time in my office asking me "Why do I keep attracting this?!" The interesting part of the law of attraction, etc. is that the more we ask that question, the more opportunities we have to answer it. We attract more and more of the things we find so irritating, until we figure out why it is we find it irritating to begin with. This is a difficult concept for people to get when it comes to the teachings of "the Secret", etc. They want to believe they are a victim of their life, maybe because it is easier than taking full responsibility, maybe because they don't know where to start if they have to think they are in 100% control, or maybe it has something to do with fitting it. What ever the reason people want to reject this idea, is the very reason they Key having these experiences.

Here is an example, one of my clients asks me "Why am I surrounded by idiots? Why is everyone in my world clueless and self absorbed?" This very question is kind of like raising your hand in class. You teacher is going to demonstrate your question, so you get your answer. How do they demonstrate it? Not by giving you the opposite of what you asked, but by giving you a closer look at what you asked, in other words, bringing you more clueless idiots in your life so you can figure out why you are attracting it.

A better question might be simply to ask "Why can't I surround myself with aware, informed people who are capable of thinking beyond themselves?" At lease it is bringing in the subject you truly want. However, it may take a few more idiots to get your attention in order for you to make the shift to attract what you desire.

In other words, the more you ask why you are having a certain experience, the more of those experiences you attract. It is similar said than done, because people ARE their beliefs and it is often hard for them to suddenly see themselves surrounded by a different type of person, when they are so use to be surrounded by what they typically see. That is the other part of the equation I have talked about so much on my blog. That part that says "I want this, but I don't believe I can have it." That part of you that rejects the people you want to attract because you don't believe it can truly exist.

Here is another example. I have a client who has asked for more people who "get" what she is into regarding energy work. Then she attracts those types of people, but she continuously rejects them because she doesn't believe they are truly the ones she has asked for and still must have the "old agenda" even though they say they don't. Her belief system is fighting with her law of attraction. This happens ALL the time. This may sound ridiculous to you, but I bet if you have done any of this law of attraction work and you see yourself not getting what you think you want. It is because you don't 100% believe it can be possessed.

Use the question "How come this keeps happening to me?" in a different way. Instead of asking from a pity me space, asked if from a classroom space of true curiosity. Ask yourself  that question honestly and opening and see what answers come to you. You will get your answers. Some of them may be answers you don't want to hear, but you have to be willing to hear it. For example maybe you are attracting less intelligent people in your space because you have the desire to feel superior intellectually. You like being the "smartest" and being able to look around and not see anyone comparing to you. You might even like complaining about it. {gasp} :) Never the less, you can make a shift if you want to if you let go of the benefits this thing is secretly providing. Give it a shot!

The Unknown - Threat or Opportunity?

"The secret of making something work in your lives is first of all, the deep desire to make it work; then the faith and belief that it can work: then to hold that clear definite vision in your consiciousness and see it working out step by step, without one thought of doubt or disbelief." Eileen Caddy, Footprints on the path. I might add to this quote that you don't make it work because you know how it is going to work out or even THAT it is going to work out. You just trust it. It is the knowing inside of you, not the knowing outside of you.

People seek someone like me out, often because they are afraid of the unknown. They think that if they only knew what was coming, or what they were suppose to be doing, they would know and the unknown fear would go away. The fears of the unkown are limitless. Fear of dying, fear of failing, fear of loosing the life that we know, etc.  Knowing what is coming next is not where we find relief. We find relief from our inner trust that we can survive what is coming next. Which you already know you can. Even if you think you can't. Let's face it, you have no choice you survive until you don't and then you don't care any more anyway.

People get falsely lured into thinking that if you just know what is coming next, you will be okay and things will go well. Even if we can see the tidal waves coming, we can't always escape being swept away by them. In fact, if you can see them, the chances are you ARE going to get swept away by them.

Let me tell you quite bluntly, the fear of the unknown is holding you back. You don't have to wait for all things to be clear to trust your gut. You don't have to ask yourself what will be, you just have to look around and see what IS. You don't need reassurance from someone like me to tell you it is all going to be okay. If you let it be okay, it will be and can be right now!

So why come to someone like me if I can't answer all the questions of the unknown? What I do, is let you hear what subconsious tapes are holding you back. Let you see what is keeping you from being able to be here, now, letting in the life you desire. It is the thoughts and fears that manifest what you are experiencing. I help you see a new way out of those thoughts and fears so that the unknown is a gift, not a threat. So that the unknown is an opportunity waiting to unfold for you, that you know deep inside yourslef you deserve and are attracting from your highest possible self.  (anyone with more experience on working on this with me, feel free to share your version of what you are working on in these sessions at www.facebook.com/insightfulinspirations )

Insightful Inspiration of the week

What unknown are you fearing most right now? What are you holding yourself back from because you are afraid you might make the wrong choice or might mess it up? What unknown future are you thinking of over and over, trying to lay down mental safety nets for? Will you let those go and trust? Look into yourself and release the need to know and bring in the "Clear definite vision" of your own success, strength and wisdom, not because you know what is coming next but because you don't and you are excited to see it unfold. Embrace the excitement of the book that is yet to be written and release into the path that has no predestined outcome.

Changing on the inside

I was reading Dragonspell to my oldest son this week, that I picked up from the used bookstore, Calico Books.  I love used bookstores!  Anyway, there was a line in it that I thought was so true I was inspired to blog on it. The line said "I'm changing so much on the inside. I keep learning things that seem to me I should have known all along." How true this is. When you are in a self transformation, the changes are happening in places no one can see, but everyone can feel. Often times this new awareness and knowledge feels like things we should have known all along. Probably because we do know it, we just chose to keep it hidden until we were ready. The thing I tell everyone is that your beliefs changes with the understanding of yourself and the world. It doesn't make your old beliefs wrong, it just makes them out of date. They were right for you at one point as are your new beliefs right for you now.  Sometimes we are unwilling to let go of old beliefs just because we have built so much of our lives around it, it would mean admitting it all had to change to change the belief. It would mean admitting that somewhere along the line we made a wrong turn. We made decisions out of the wrong belief system. So, we often times just stay stuck in an old way of thinking, just to keep ourselves from having to make these drastic changes.

My proposal is, rather than looking to the outside world and saying "there is so much to do", let the changes that are happening within you help you shape your world, with ease not effort. Try and just let go of the idea that you were ever wrong or that where you are now is not where you are suppose to be. Instead, embrace where you are as perfection and flow with the changes that are coming from within you, without judgement or fear.

Insightful Inspiration for the week

Inside yourself is all the wisdom you need. It is always waiting for you to discover it. Even if it looks like an outside source, i.e. a blog, a book, a mentor, these external realities are being created from your inner wisdom. Check in with what you are beating yourself up over not "knowing" before. Let go of judging yourself from this place and see this new awareness that you "should have" known all along as coming in at the exact right moment. Before now, you were not ready to see yourself and the world with this knowledge. Now the changes on the inside have lead you to a new definition, which asks you to be fluid as your awareness is always expanding and redefining the world as you know it. Let go of the fear of change and old ways of thinking and embrace the things you knew all along but weren't ready for them yet.  Flow with it, you will love the results!
