Are Your Assumptions Blocking Your Manifesting?

Understanding Coherence With What You Want

We all make assumptions. Sometimes it’s simply efficient to do so.

But what about the assumptions we don’t even realize we’re making, especially around what we think we want?

When you ask the universe for something, you’re usually naming a surface-level desire. But most of the time, what you’re asking for is not actually the root desire. It’s the strategy you believe will deliver the deeper need underneath. And when the surface request and the deeper desire don’t match, the energy gets incoherent.

That incoherence is what blocks, delays, or distorts your manifestations.

Manifesting works best when your energy field, your emotions, your beliefs, and your desires are all resonating at the same frequency. Something I call manifesting coherence. When you ask for one thing while wanting something deeper, different, or more essential, your energy sends mixed signals. It’s like pressing the gas and the brakes at the same time.

The Difference Between What You Want and What You Really Want

Here’s a simple example:

You say, “I want a new job.”

But the deeper truth might be something like:

  • “I want financial security.”

  • “I want to feel safe.”

  • “I want to feel free.”

  • “I want to be valued.”

  • “I want to feel like I have a purpose.”

If the job you’re calling in won’t actually meet those deeper desires, or worse, pulls you further away from them, your energy will resist it. Not consciously, but at the level of coherence.

This is why sometimes you manifest a job that looks right on paper but costs your time, energy, health, or joy. The job fulfilled the surface request, but not the underlying desire.

Your energy always tries to stay loyal to the deeper truth, whether you’re naming it or not.

Common Assumptions That Disrupt Manifesting Coherence

Here are a few more examples:

“I want to be thin.”

But the deeper desires might be:

  • “I want to feel healthy and energized.”

  • “I want to feel comfortable in my body.”

  • “I want to trust myself.”

  • “I want to feel confident and free.”

Being thin is simply the assumed pathway. If the deeper need is confidence or ease, weight change alone won’t create coherence, and the goal becomes hard to sustain.

“I want to make more money.”

Underneath may be:

  • “I want more time with my family.”

  • “I want to feel safe.”

  • “I want to be able to do what I want.”

  • “I want a calmer, happier life.”

More money might actually require more hours, stress, or disconnection. Incoherence means you’ll either struggle to manifest it or resent it when you get it.

Opening to Possibilities Creates Coherence

When you stop assuming the “how” and start naming the deeper desire, your energy becomes crystal clear. You open the door for the universe to meet your needs in unexpected ways that match your true frequency.

Manifesting coherence = Asking for the essence of what you desire, not the assumed strategy.

This one shift can change the speed, accuracy, and ease of your manifestations more than any technique.

A Simple Process to Discover Your True Desire

Use these questions to get to the heart of what you want:

1. What do I say I want?

Example: More connected time with my kids.

2. Why do I want it?

Because I want them to know I value and enjoy being with them.

3. Why is that important?

Because I want them to have healthy self-esteem and feel supported. Because I want a lifelong connected relationship.

4. What do I really want?

  • I want to feel connected.

  • I want my children to grow up happy and healthy.

  • I want to know I’m nurturing the bond we share.

This process can loop around several times until you reach energetic coherence — the desire that actually vibrates with your heart.

Turning Your True Desire Into an Affirmation

Once you’ve refined what you really want, turn it into a clear, coherent affirmation:

Affirmation:

“I feel deeply connected to my children, who are growing up happy and healthy.”

This is the kind of statement the universe responds to — clean, aligned, and resonant.

Your Turn

Try this process with something you’re currently manifesting.

  • Check for assumptions.

  • Find the deeper truth.

  • Create coherence.

And if you feel like sharing your affirmation or deeper desire, I’d love to hear it in the comments!
