Breaking the Stigma of Being an Energy Healer
I want to get on my soapbox for a minute.
We are living in a time when we need energy healers more than ever. We need people who are attuned to the subtleties of the non-physical realm, people willing to work with the unseen to create real, meaningful change. Mindfulness, meditation, and yoga have become mainstream…and that's wonderful! But there's still a quiet hiding happening among people who are intuitive (or who are longing to become more intuitive).
There's still a stigma.
My Shake Up, Wake Up
I have a master's degree in business, one I hammered out at seven months pregnant, at 22 years old. I did it because my husband wanted a kid by 30 (he's six and a half years older than me), because I wanted to get my master's before having kids, because I wanted two years of marriage under our belt first to make sure it would "stick," and because I wanted to own a house before we started our family. Every box was checked, cue the picket fence and the perfect life!
I landed the coveted corporate job, the one that made me feel important and safe. I spent years there. Not once did I wake up thinking, "I really wish I could be an energy healer." And yet, slowly, that is exactly where the spiral of my life led me.
It wasn’t long before the corporate world taught me that no matter how many numbers you meet or how many people love you…you are expendable. I was laid off. My co-workers were shocked because I was dependable and produced results. (Isn’t that what the corporate world wanted?)
I also immediately got calls from the corporation, trying to pull me back in. And for a bit, it worked. I got sucked back in and ended up working on my husband's team as his project manager. (He loved it! He could rely on my efficiency and talk "shop" with me day and night.) Then the next layoff came, and I predicted it. I told others whom I could see were on the chopping block. No one believed me and my manager wouldn't confirm it either, pretending not to know what I was talking about until just days before it happened.
During all of this, I was finding my inner energy healer. The second layoff was my last straw. I needed to be where I was wanted, seen for my talents, and could make the world a better place.

My Own Coming Out
I remember what it felt like to try to be normal in both worlds. I finally admitted that I need to do something with my intuitive side. I remember the discomfort of doing my best in my job, watching myself meet the “numbers”, and wondering, “wait…why?!” All while doing readings for people “for fun” at the local metaphysical shop.
At first, the title "coach" felt easier to claim than "energy healer." It didn't need an explanation; people already understood what a coach did. "Energy healer" always invited questions, or worse, a certain look. Even now, some days I still reach for the simpler word, saving the deeper truth for the people who already get it. Other days, I remember that staying quiet about energy healing isn't why I'm here. I'm here to help people understand that they can use energy and the non-physical to heal, to manifest, and to help build a different kind of world.
So, I started to own it. First with friends, then with neighbors I barely knew. Before you knew it, I was owning my gifts and getting results with my work. It felt great! I did lose some friends and connections along the way (people who couldn’t handle the paradigm shift) and that was perfectly fine. Those who needed me started to find me.
Let's Stop Making This Weird
I want to say this plainly: Let's stop making it strange to be an energy healer or to work in any alternative healing field. Let's just stop. It doesn't serve anyone and it never did. Our world is changing quickly. As a collective, we need to be willing to step out of our old wounds and meet this moment with a fresh perspective.
I used to describe energy healing as “woo-woo” myself, half joking and half deflecting. Using humor to create distance before anyone could judge me first. Looking back, that was its own quiet disrespect toward the work I was doing.
If you're already an energy healer, you probably know all of this. But if you're someone who is drawn to this path or simply curious about your own intuition and psychic nature, I want you to hear this: it is in you. We are all mystics. We are all creating from our own reality. Wanting to explore this part of yourself is normal and natural. The taboo around it was never serving us, and it isn't serving us now.
Trust Your Own Inner Healer
I want to encourage you to tap into your own intuition, your own inner healer. Your body is constantly working toward balance. That innate wellness doesn't come from an unintelligent source; it comes from an unseen one. Learning to work with the unseen, through consciousness and awareness, is going to matter more and more as we move forward.
So, I want everyone reading this to stop hiding.
A Note for the Parents
If you have a sensitive child and you've been able to see them, truly see them, and acknowledge what they're experiencing, I am grateful for you. I know that isn't always easy.
For those of you who feel nervous about what you're noticing in your own children, please know this is part of the evolution too. The children coming into this world now carry remarkable gifts and abilities, qualities many of us were taught to hide or never even allowed ourselves to recognize. Their consciousness moves faster, in part because of everything our technology-driven world has created. We are moving out of the technology space and into the intuition space. That is where we are headed next.
A Note to Everyone Still Nervous
If you're still uneasy about the stigma of being seen walking into an energy healer's office or an alternative health provider's practice, I see you. If you're nervous about trusting your own intuition, I see you too.
And if someone in your life is stepping into this path, be curious with them. Don’t judge them, tell them they're strange, or that they've lost their grip on reality. That isn't the truth. We are evolving and that evolution is needed now more than ever.
Stepping off my soapbox now. Peace to you all.
